Padma Shri K. VijayRaghavan is the scientist with a great honour of respect.
Krishnaswamy VijayRaghavan is a distinguished professor and former director of the National Center for Biosciences (NCBS). Professor K. VijayRaghavan is a well-known biologist and member of the ICTS-TIFR Board of Directors. He was appointed as Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India which is the most prestigious position. The Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) is the highest Government Advisor on all affairs related to scientific policies.
He was also Secretary of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT). Sir took various initiatives to streamline and focus DBT grant management processes. He received the 'Padma Shri' from the Government of India. In 2009, he received the Infosys Award in the Life Sciences category. Dr Vijay Raghavan graduated from IIT Kanpur in 1975 with a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering.
He completed his doctoral research in 1983 in the field of molecular biology and holds a PhD from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. In 2012, he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society. In April 2014, sir was elected as the Foreign Associate of the US National Academy of Sciences. He has received awards from National and International organisations.
Sir holds an Honorable and respectable position among the renowned people in the field of science. His contributions and dedication have inspired many young scientists across the world and still continues to do the same.
